The Hippodrome of Constantinople was a Massive building built for Chariot racing, and became a non official place for the public to voice their opinions. These opinions were voiced through the teams racing, the blues, the whites, the reds, and the greens. The fans contained everyone from senators to peasants, which made the teams a political influence. This arena became a set stage for the Nika Riots, where the masses rose up in anger to the harsh taxes. Eventually, this lead into full out riots causing Emperor Justinian to slaughter over 30,000 people in the hippodrome.
